Movie review : Band Baaja Baaraat

Band Baaja Baaraat movie is in one line, a love story with just distribution of all the three elements mentioned in the movie title. Yash Raj manages to lose its otherwise squeaky clean packaging to complete to be more realistic. But a there is a warning before you going to your nearest theater to get your ticket for this movie: If you do not like Delhi-ites, this movie could really check your tolerance because everyone acts, speaks and even overplays like a quintessential Delhi locals.

The story is fairly straight-forward without surprises. If you have seen the promos, nothing can say here will assured an eyebrow. Delhi ki girl Anushka Sharma as Shruti meets Saharanpur’s boy Ranveer Singh as Bittoo, accidentally but they are not in love for a long time after knowing each other. They decide to join to become wedding planners for middle-class Delhi-ites who appreciate a full flashy-style wedding. After several weddings, they decide to produce the bar and start servicing big clients, followed by a collage shot of passage of time to represents ringing of the cash register.
But every movie requires a turning point, so after half-time, after much protesting, our lead resisting gives in to their physical desires. Now, this is a sequence that is scene beautifully with aesthetic love making and slow kissing. And what's particularly refreshing is how they have shown 'the-morning-after': the feeling of happiness coupled with every place is sensed in charming light and different. Anyhow, this feeling is short-lived.

The second half of the movie chases like a disable earthworm and waiting for the lead match to realize that they are coping up for each other seems like forever. This wait gets more painful when aloud shaadi songs are thrown on you. Isolated from 'Avayi Avayi' (which will sure become a favorite among shaadis for the next few months), other songs look like earlier rejected compositions. Habib Faisal's dialogues are pretty good with the characterization but may not participate to the film's success. Anushka is her sparkling self and debutant Ranveer makes a convincing 'jat' and the movie pretty good rides on them.
